| First
things first It is critical to start with a clean base and the best way
to accomplish that is to hot-scrape with ReNew Zoom
or (better) ReNew Zoom Graphite. To use time and
resources most effectively, hot-scrape then brush and travel wax using the Renew
Zoom of your choice. This way you will be ready to scrape, brush and iron in the
competition wax. The
time element Most world cup techs wax at night, then scrape and brush
in the morning. If you do not have time for that, here are the minimum waiting
times between ironing and scraping and the types of brushes recommended for removing
the waxes:
 | ReNew
Zooms: 3 hours, brush with soft, fine steel |
 | yellow
waxes: 3 hours, brush with brass horsehair |
 | pink
waxes and Zoom types: 1.5 hours, brush with brass horsehair, polish with horsehair
| | turquoise
waxes: 45 minutes, brush with fine steel, polish with horsehair |
 | white
waxes and Bullet: half hour, brush with fine steel, polish with horsehair |
Some
standard moves
 | Always
ask if they are making snow on the competition area. If they do, go with the new
snow formula. | | If
the night is clear, the snow will be very aggressive early in the morning. Go
with the harder wax option. | | If
the slope is facing north or west, the snow temperature does not change much from
morning to noon, even if it is sunny. | | If
the chance of new snow is around 50%, leave the antistatic wax out of the hot
wax formula, then use new or old snow Race Rocket at the start for the proper
antistatic properties. | | If
you are waxing for parallel format, skiercross, boardercross, or halfpipe, wax
harder because the wax has to last for multiple runs. | | Wait
until you are at the start before applying overlays. This way you can make a decision
after examining the snow. | |
